This Valentine's Day dine well in Rotorua

"One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well," so said Virginia Woolf.

So make sure you dine well this Valentine’s Day, which is quickly approaching. If you need help planning something special for your favourite human, we’ve put together a short, but certainly not exhaustive, list of romantic places in Rotorua that have you sorted for a lovely dining experience.

We also see YOU, singles, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying a lovely evening with your bestie, parents or favourite sibling.

If you spot something below that sounds like you, please check with the restaurant whether reservations are required.

Sabroso
Spice things up, in more than one way, with South American dishes and the city’s best margaritas.

Regulars will be happy to know Sabroso will have their normal menu on offer (chimichangas, tostadas, tacos and more), as well as a special Valentine’s Day tasting platter for two.

Born in Venezuela to Kiwi parents, owner Sarah opened Sabroso with her partner John in 2007 to provide guests with a glimpse of the Latino warmth, hospitality and delicious flavours she experienced growing up. Inspired by their time spent in the barrios of Latin America, the couple provide genuine service, and delicious food and drinks for good value.

Though small in size and scale, Sabroso delivers big on flavour and experience.

Atticus Finch

Nestled in Eat Streat, Atticus Finch is famous for its tapas to share and cosy atmosphere; it’s sure to impress, whether you’re on a first date or your 50th. They’re working on their Valentine’s menu now, and have started off with a new cocktail aptly named The French Kiss (pictured above, with vodka, Chambord, pineapple puree, cranberry juice and lemon juice, and rimmed with a delish raspberry sherbert – yum!)

Stratosfare
What could be more fitting for a special night out than starting it with a Gondola ride to the top of a mountain and being presented with a glass of bubbles or juice upon arrival at an award-winning restaurant with a gorgeous view over Lake Rotorua and its namesake city?

Stratosfare Restaurant (pictured at the top) is putting on a special buffet with additional items for you to enjoy with live music in the background. Call ahead to book a guaranteed window seat.

Te Puia
If you haven’t been to Pātaka Kai at Te Puia yet, going for Valentine’s Day dinner is a great reason to visit. This is a sophisticated cultural food and beverage experience for all tastes, plus you and your date will be amazed by the views of the geothermal valley and the almost-hourly eruption of Pōhutu Geyser, the largest active geyser in the Southern Hemisphere.

Take note, Te Puia is hosting Valentine’s dinner on Saturday evening.

Prince’s Gate

If old-world romance is what you’re after, pack an overnight bag because the romantically historic Prince’s Gate Boutique Hotel has put together a great package to make this Valentine’s Day one to remember.

Choose from a high tea for two, a four-course dinner, or an overnight stay in one of the Designer Rooms – or all three – at special rates. Each option includes chocolates and a complimentary glass of bubbles upon arrival.

If you’ve been daydreaming of beach-side getaways and tropical deserted islands but can’t quite make it happen this year, Volcanic Air Rotorua is launching their new Lakeside Picnic Getaway Package, perfectly timed for Valentine’s Day.

The 90-minute package begins with a scenic float plane tour over Lake Rotorua, Mokoia Island and the beautiful Northern crater lakes. You’ll then disembark at a beautiful, secluded beach on the northern edge of Lake Rotoiti for an hour of delicious food, swimming and exploring. While you discover this private paradise, your pilot will set up the perfect picnic catered by the talented chefs of Terrace Kitchen.

What a spectacular, romantic and unique way to experience the beauty of Rotorua and its surrounding lakes with someone special.

The Regent Room

If classic French sofas, chic décor, hip cocktail seating, padded leather couches, and an indoor/outdoor fireplace sounds enticing, wait until you see the menu at The Regent Room. They’ve created a special six-course degustation experience for two that starts with a complimentary glass of Pol Remy Brut on arrival to kick things off.
