Hinehopu Reserve

Public Places & Spaces / Central

Location: Tamatea Street

At the eastern end of Lake Rotoiti is the Hinehopu Reserve, which is well-known for shoreline fishing. Only during December and February, water skiing is allowed on the lake.

The Hinehopu/Hongi Track borders the reserve and highlights the area's incredible native forest and cultural importance. There's also a beautiful beach at Korokitewao Bay on Lake Rotoiti for swimming and picnicking.

Facilities include children's playground, barbecues, picnic tables, toilet facility, and a boat ramp. Dogs are allowed but must remain on a lead.

Remember to take care of the environment and to dispose of rubbish and dog waste in the bin. The walkway and the bush area are administered by the Department of Conservation.
