The value of the Rotorua region's thermal water has been known since the early 19th Century when visitors bathed in the hot pools on the edge of Lake Rotorua. The hot geothermal waters were hailed for their healing properties and as cures for ailments such as sexual impotence, arthritis and rheumatism. Rotorua now has a range of hot pools for bathing in our geothermal waters, from private pools to natural hot springs. Just minutes’ walk from the city centre are the Kuirau Park foot pools. Soak your feet as steam from the thermal vents swirl around you. A short drive south from Rotorua is Kerosene Creek. Kerosene Creek flows through natural bush with a 2-metre waterfall to a quiet pool of hot water. This hot spot is a popular bathing area for both visitors and locals and a great way to relax after a busy day. Whether you are after a relaxing soak in a natural forest-lined thermal stream or luxurious indulgence in one of Rotorua's spa and hot pool complex, visitors will leave feeling invigorated, refreshed and revitalised.
