Amazing Race style event for school holidays

These school holidays, digital technology meets the great outdoors in an app-based, Amazing Race-style challenge that encourages Bay of Plenty residents to explore their own backyard.

goosechase challenges teams to complete a series of physical and mental ‘missions’ specific to three locations. Each mission is worth a certain number of points, with bonus points awarded for going the extra mile, so teams can compete to reach the top score.

This challenge is hosted by Sport Bay of Plenty’s Virtually on Track, a collaborative initiative between Sport Bay of Plenty, Sport NZ and the Department of Conservation, designed to connect locals and visitors with the Bay of Plenty’s beautiful parks and reserves through digital technology and recreational activities.

There are three games at three Bay of Plenty locations: McLaren Falls Park (Tauranga), Fairbrother Loop Walk (Ohope Beach) and our very own Whakarewarewa Forest/The Redwoods.

The challenge will be available from Friday, April 14 at 9am to Sunday, April 30 at 7.30pm. For further information and instructions on how to download the app go to goosechase Challenge and visit the Rotorua Redwoods goosechase event on Facebook.
