Rotorua is a multicultural city with around 150 ethnicities represented in our community

 
For students whose first language is not English, five secondary schools in Rotorua offer English language courses for improving English speaking, pronunciation, listening and writing skills before starting their tertiary studies or entering the workforce.

Rotorua Lakes High School
Rotorua Boys' High School
Rotorua Girls' High School
 
In addition to these high schools, two other education providers have been teaching English to non-native English speakers for several decades.
 
Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology is one of the Bay of Plenty’s largest tertiary providers, with one of its main campuses located in Rotorua. In addition to offering mainstream tertiary courses, the institute has been teaching English language courses since 1986 and is well-known for its highly qualified and passionate teachers, and interactive and experiential learning methods. Enrolment is open to students aged 15 years and older.
