Scenic Flights & Heli-biking

Take to the skies and get a deeper appreciation of Rotorua’s geothermal treasures, or gain unparalleled access to the region’s finest singletrack rides. Sightseeing by air, or flightseeing, is simply a fantastic way to experience the best Rotorua has to offer.

Make a splash by arriving in a floatplane to secluded thermal hot pools or a romantic lakeside champagne picnic spot with a special someone.

Enjoy a helicopter tour over the region’s crater lakes before setting foot on an active volcano and walking through an otherworldly geothermal reserve.

For an amazing day (or several) in the middle of nowhere, nothing beats a heli-biking tour. Mountain bikers can get a birds eye view of the terrain and ancient forest before cycling one or two of New Zealand’s Great Rides, or consider being dropped at a DoC hut for an overnight stay and an unhurried start to your adventure.

Of course, if you have something else in mind, just ask our operators about a tailor-made adventure.

A number of excellent mountain biking shops hire out bikes, including e-mountain bikes, by the hour and day, and can fit you out with the perfect bike for your needs. And, if you’re flying into Rotorua and bringing your own bike, Rotorua Airport has a Bike Zone where you can assemble, clean and disassemble your bikes before and after your adventures. Considering Rotorua is a world-class mountain biking destination, it’s no surprise that the airport also offers short-term and long-term bike storage options as well.
