Following sell-out success Tērā te Auahi returns for an extended Summer season from 15 January.
Created by Māori performing arts collective Te Whare Tapere o Te Arawa, the contemporary production combines theatre, music, movement and kapa haka to tell the story of the 1886 Tarawera eruption, bringing one of Aotearoa's most significant historical events vividly to life through the experiences of those who lived through it.

Tērā te Auahi
Created by local collective, Te Whare Tapere o Te Arawa, Tērā te Auahi is a contemporary performance honouring 140 years since the 1886 eruption of Tarawera.
Through movement, music and storytelling, the production brings to life the human stories of the eruption, exploring its impact on the people of Te Wairoa and surrounding villages, the meeting of cultures, and the enduring spirit of the land.
