During 07/08 Rotorua saw a large investment in product and infrastructure that focussed on the convention and incentive market.

In the first 10 months of the $28m Energy Events Centre being open, the city has hosted over 70,000 delegates in this venue alone. Many of these events have been attracted back to Rotorua due to the larger capacity we can now hold.

With the Rotorua Regional Airport runway extension construction starting later in 2008, the airport will be ready to service trans-Tasman flights by the end of May 2009.

All of the regions Hotels have recently had refurbishments and upgrades with the Distinction Hotel hoping to have their new Bar and Restaurant open in time for Trenz 2008 and the final accommodation rooms completed later in the year..

Rotorua is fast becoming the adventure playground of New Zealand, with investment in adventure product growing every year, many being world firsts.
