A-Kahu House at Kawaha Point on the edge of Lake Rotorua is lake-edge luxury with the relaxed vibe of a B&B. The guest rooms are large, beautifully appointed and flooded with lake views. There are just four guest suites to A-Kahu, so it is not a huge property but it seems to be just the way our guests like it. There is an old Maori proverb that sums up A-Kahu...

'Ahakoa he iti, he pounamu. Although it is small, it is greenstone.'

Pounamu (greenstone) is the most precious of stone to Maori.

A total of four large en-suited guest rooms comprise A-Kahu. Three are super-king and one is a twin queen configuration. Interconnected family suites are available. Each guest room is beautifully appointed with LCD television, luxurious linens and furnishings, handmade Maori herb & oil infused soaps as well as stunning examples of both contemporary and traditional Maori art work. Views of historic Lake Rotorua, Ohinemutu Village, Rotorua Township and Mt Tarawera pour in the windows of each guest room. A-Kahu has a private jetty stretching out into Lake Rotorua from where you can go swimming, kayaking and head off in the dinghy to explore the lake. Waterskiing, wakeboarding, jet skiing and fishing are all available by arrangement. A floatplane is a superb way to take in Rotorua's 16 lakes, volcano and geothermal areas and you can be conveniently collected from the A-Kahu jetty. At the end of a day on the lake or after having immersed yourself in Rotorua's unique sights & attractions, soak up the night lights of Rotorua from the spa. A-Kahu features stunning Maori art work, craft & collections including contemporary & traditional Maori paintings, weaving, carvings and sculptures. A small library of well-loved Maori and New Zealand literature is also available to guests.
