Summer is a great time to explore Rotorua both as a local and a visitor.  With a range of community events and major festivals happening throughout the season, it’s a great time to visit.

Casual outdoor dining is a no brainer under the summer sun, with local markets offering the best in fresh produce and a range of ethnic cuisines. 

The Thursday Night Market on Tutanekai Street embraces the warmer evenings. Enjoy delicious freshly prepared food, both sweet and savoury and relax listening to live music as the sun goes down on an action packed day.

If you're visiting over the weekend, we have you covered with the Sunday morning Rotorua Farmers Market held at Te Manawa, in the heart of the city. Take your pick of locally grown produce and homemade specialty items in a relaxed environment and family friendly atmosphere.

Feel like a festival? Check out Mudtopia.This event is sure to please with a mixture of partying, pampering and playing. Embrace three days of mud, music, entertainment and a tonne of fun.

Bring in the New Year at Rotorua's Village Green with the Glo Festival. Starting from 6pm there’ll be live music, entertainment and art on display. A great event for locals, families and visitors.  The first fireworks display starts at 9.15pm for the little ones then stay later for the midnight fireworks display.

Love Seafood? In February, Rotorua hosts the Summer Seafood Festival.  Indulge in a variety of delicious seafood paired with exquisite New Zealand wine. Enjoy the line-up of local talent as you relax beside the stunning Lake Rotorua.
