Gala Concert The Big Sing Cadenza

Cadenza is a two day competition of 13 of the best secondary school choirs of the Upper North Island competing against and singing with each other under international conductor and adjudicator Tim Sharp, Executive Director of the American Choral Directors Association. The Gala Concert is a culmination of these two days and a feast of music as each choir presents a song individually as well as performing together in a large massed choir. Cadenza is organised by the NZ Choral Federation and has grown out of The Big Sing competition where the 24 best choirs from across the country take part in Finale. Cadenza is a new initiative which enables another 36 excellent choirs beyond these 24 to take part in three regional events, one in Rotorua, in Whanganui and in Timaru. Come and share the excitement of this inaugural event! There are four adjudicated sessions the public are welcome to attend for a gold coin donation. These are on Sunday 25 August 11am - 12.30pm and 2pm - 3.30pm; and on Monday 26 August 10am - 12noon and 1pm - 2pm. In each session several choirs present programmes of two songs within eight minute time frame.
