Spring Into Action

Spring Into Action

Take the plunge
Did you know the highest commercially rafted waterfall in the world is in Rotorua? This is one to tick off the bucket list. One of Rotorua’s raft companies will happily suit you up and take you for the ride of a lifetime down the Kaituna River and 7m drop of the Tutea Falls. This is a must-do adventure when in Rotorua.

Hit up our world famous trails
There’s nowhere better to be a mountain biker than Rotorua. There’s over 145km of trails in the Whakarewarewa Forest to explore that Red Bull named as the best in the Southern Hemisphere. Don’t think it’s all hard out though –there’s a whole range of trails built for everyone from toddlers to world title holders.

Go on an adventure
Head off with River Rats Raft & Kayak on an evening trip across Lake Rotoiti to the accessible-only-by-water Manupirua Hot Springs. After a relaxing soak in the hot water its back into the kayak as the sun goes down to explore a series of hidden glow worm caves nearby.

Get the heart pumping
Fly down the side of Mt Ngongotaha with Skyline Rotorua’s new Zoom Zipline. Strap yourself in and rocket down the mountain reaching speeds of up to 80km over the 385m line. While you’re there check out the new Skyline Gravity Park mountain bike trails.

Bring the boat! The water is warming up
In October the lakes are starting to warm up, which means now is the time to bust out the wakeboard or single ski. With summer just around the corner it’ll be the keenest of us who will be back in the water, enjoying the lakes without the crowds.

Happy Ewe Cycle Tour
Take a European-inspired cycle tour of NZ’s coolest hot spot stopping to hear about the myths, legends, significant sites and local larrikins along the way.

Bounce about
Roll head over heels downhill in an OGO (outdoor gravity orb). Choose from being strapped in, or having the OGO filled with water, before heading down the two tracks. It’s heaps of fun and you may even meet the inventor!
