Adventure and romance in Rotorua

    Adventure and romance in Rotorua

Brian and Amanda spent two weeks in New Zealand, and whilst in Rotorua made the most of every opportunity possible. Read below the range of great adventure activities they checked out whilst here.  From visiting active volcanoes with Volcanic Air, to checking out Rotorua’s natural wonders of Hells Gate, and finally topping it all off with world class accommodation at the Regent of Rotorua.

The opportunity to walk on an active volcano was one not to be missed by Amanda and Brian who took in the breath taking views of the Rotorua Lakes District as they made their way by helicopter, with Volcanic Air, to New Zealand’s East Coast. Landing upon White Island they described it as ‘rugged, colourful, terrain with smoke everywhere’.  personal guided tour of the island was provided by the pilot, helmets and gas masks included! The experience was topped off with a tour of an old sulphur mine on the Island which was active in the late 1980’s, early 1900’s.

Hell’s Gate is one of New Zealand’s most active geothermal areas. Hell’s Gate has vast walking trails and the famous Kakahi Falls which is the warmest waterfall in the Southern Hemisphere. With bubbling mud pools and mud baths you can soak in, this is really an experience not to be missed.

The Regent of Rotorua was Amanda and Brian’s accommodation of choice for a romantic stay. This hotel is something special. With both a swimming pool and luxury spa facilities available for a relaxing stay in Rotorua, great for either a winter and summer getaway. Being centrally located means it is just a short walk from Rotorua’s range of great dining options, or for things to do in Rotorua during the evening.
