Rotorua Weather for Mountain Biking | Bike Rotorua Whakarewarewa Forest

From amateurs to experts, across the country and around the globe all agree that with more than 130km of trails in the Whakarewarewa Forest, mountain biking in Rotorua is a must.

Rotorua is New Zealand’s mountain biking mecca with Red Bull rating the Whakarewarewa trails in the top eight of the world and Australian Mountain Bike Magazine claiming them to be the best.

Day One

Drive or catch a shuttle to Whakarewarewa Forest and choose one of the 60 trails to ride, and tackle some of the steeper hills that lead to the best tracks within the forest.

Grab a quick snack and a coffee at the container located at Multi Day Adventures Site office on Waipa Road, also a great place to stop for basic bike servicing and minor ‘quick fixes’.

For a change of scene head to the Blue Lake, take a leisurely stroll around the lake and enjoy the natural beauty of this magnificent area.

Day Two

Hit Fenton Street heading south as if you are going to Whakatane, there is a bike lane as far as the airport. This is a pleasant 40km ride winding around the lake, through Hamurana and Ngongotaha and ending back in.

Head to Zippy’s Café for lunch, centrally located on Pukuatua Street. Spend the evening at Polynesian Spa treating your aching muscles and joints.
