Brand use

The 'Rotorua - feel the spirit - Manaakitanga' brand represents Rotorua's core qualities.
Do you want to use the Rotorua Brand?
The brand reflects a 'quality' promise, therefore whatever the brand is used on or associated with needs to demonstrate this quality. This is why we, at Destination Rotorua Tourism Marketing, are guardians of the brand and maintain strict standards for its use.
We welcome the use of the brand, and encourage tourism operators and industry members to make use of it. All we ask in return is that the guidelines for brand use are followed. Please read the brand use protocols below.
Brand use protocols
- The brand represents the community's values and qualities as identified in the development of the brand and outlined on the attached pages.
- These values clearly identify the brand as primarily a community brand. However there are commercial elements attached to the brand in particular circumstances.
- The use of the brand is primarily intended as a marketing device for the Rotorua community and region not as a name for a specific product or services, unless those products and services belong to DRTM / RDC
- The brand is "place specific" ie applies to any authentic Rotorua rate-payer region products, services, community or marketing
- The brand is owned by RDC, administered by DRTM who have absolute power to veto any use
- The brand should only be applied, or use allowed, where the integrity of the brand values are maintained.
- The current brand reproduction standards are comprehensive.
- RDC / DRTM as owners of the brand are the only organisation entitled to use the brand as the primary or major brand on a product, service or marketing device.
- The brand can not be applied in a way that is misleading, could cause offence or in contravention of any statute.
If you would like to make use of the Rotorua brand, please complete our application form/licensing agreement ( download a copy, Click here> ) and post or fax a copy to Destination Rotorua Tourism Marketing .
Brand usage in most instances is free of charge, although there will be instances where costs will be incurred.
Destination Rotorua Tourism Marketing retains the right to have sign off authority for brand usage.
