Attractions and activities

Rotorua is well known for its culture, adventure and geothermal activities, but it also offers outdoor experiences set in a stunning natural playground. Whakarewarewa Forest is known worldwide for its fantastic mountain biking. It boasts around 90km of trails, from beginner and family tracks to cross-country rides for experts chasing extreme action.

Explore on foot, on a casual walk or challenging hike around sparkling lakes or through farms, wetlands, native bush or rainforest. Brave a scree run into the crater of dormant volcano Mt Tarawera or fish for trout and cook your catch in hot thermal sand on a secluded beach.
