Rugby World Cup 2011

Welcome to Rotorua’s Rugby World Cup 2011 website. Our beautiful city is proud to be hosting three pool matches, and we’re delighted to have the opportunity to showcase our fabulous attractions to the world, giving visiting fans memories they’ll treasure forever.

Nestled in a geothermal wonderland and surrounded by sparkling lakes, New Zealand’s hottest tourism spot is renowned worldwide for its culture, adventure activities, spa attractions and much more. Plus, the locals love their rugby and the sport is an integral part of the region’s history. Bay of Plenty players were prominent in the early years of New Zealand rugby, with many becoming All Blacks. There are currently 38 individual clubs in the Bay of Plenty.

We’ll be rolling out the red carpet for fans, so don’t miss the chance to experience
all Rotorua has to offer. The region boasts some of the world’s best mountain
biking and trout fishing, spectacular geothermal activity and fascinating
Maori legends, music and cuisine.

It’s also well connected to the rest of New Zealand via air and road,
so it’s the perfect base from which to explore New Zealand
while staying in the thick of all the rugby action.
