      Youth Section Rotorua Rock Mineral Fossil & Gem Club Meeting

      The Rotorua Rock Mineral Fossil and Gem Club is responding to interest from young people and their families by starting a Youth Section. Youths 8-16 accompanied by an adult are welcome. Each month there will be a range of topics, opportunities for youth to learn more about the geology and like subjects particularly of Aotearoa/New Zealand, and to share their finds and knowledge too. January's topics are: - What is that rock ? - How many do you know - Rocks vs Minerals - What's the difference? - What's it good for? - The uses of rocks and minerals Accompanied youth are welcome to attend the adults' meeting starting at 7pm - January the topic will be Obsidians. We organise field trips, particularly in response to expressed interest. Thursday January 25 we are going to Retaruke, fossil and rock hunting. We also organise guest speakers - Adrian Muller, Lecturer in Earth Sciences, will speak on April. You can find us on Facebook at RotoruaRockClub. Annual membership is $5 for youths $10 for individuals over 16, $15 for families.

      Great Forest Rogaine

      3 and 6 hour foot and mountain bike rogaine. Includes 2018 NZ Secondary School Rogaine Champs (Foot). Get together a team of family or friends for a fun navigation adventure.
