Eco-Adventures to Rotorua U3A

How appropriate! New Zealand celebrates Conservation Week, 14-22 October and U3A hears about Canopy Tours: Treetop Eco-adventures on October 18! General Manager of Rotorua Canopy Tours, Paul Button will be speaking at Rotorua U3A’s Community Forum at 10am on Wednesday October 18 in the Bridge Club Rooms, Neil Hunt Park, Lynmore. We’ll hear how this venture is more than just a tourist attraction: it reflects the company’s commitment through the Canopy Conservation Trust to creating a pest-free environment covering approximately 220ha of the Dansey Road Scenic Reserve. They have developed a 35km trapping network using world-leading technology and have removed thousands of pests from the Reserve. We’ll hear, too, about the Canopy Tours eco-adventure over a 1.2 kilometre network of six ziplines, swinging bridges and treetop platforms up to 22 metres high in the canopy of ancient native forest. This was the 2016 New Zealand Tourism Awards Supreme Award winner, winning also the 2016 Environmental Tourism Award. And: this winner is on our doorstep! Doors open at 9:30 when morning tea is available. Visitors most welcome. Entry is by gold coin donation. Presented by: Canopy Tours
