Te Puia - Our stories sit within the hearts and minds of our people - and will be shared by those who Guide you through the Maori Arts and Crafts Institute. The spirit of our land can be seen, felt and heard within the unique geothermal environment of Te Whakarewarewa Thermal Area. Silica terraces, bubbling mud pools and unique vegetation sets an awesome backdrop to the world famous Pohutu Geyser.
The Agrodome show - is an all weather, interactive attraction, enjoyable for all ages. The show is 45 minutes long and gives you a great insight into New Zealand farming life, from the past to the present, with sheep shearing and farm dogs, to milking a cow!
Rainbow Springs - Set amidst a beautiful environment of native bush, the Rainbow Springs Nature Park has a wonderful combination of natural elements and species in one setting. Clear cold water springs are home to four species of wild trout including Rainbow, Brown, Tiger and Brook Char, and New Zealand’s national icon, the Kiwi, is on display in our nocturnal Kiwi house.
The Buried Village - The village of Te Wairoa, buried by the eruption of Mt Tarawera in 1886, is today on display as an archaeological site. The museum and excavated sites combine with natural beauty and wildlife to make a walk through the Buried Village a unique experience.
During this time you will be visiting five of the lakes in our area, Lakes Tikitapu (the Blue Lake), Rotokakahi (the Green Lake), Tarawera, Okareka and of course, Lake Rotorua!
Then visit Rotorua Museum - Where great stories begin....Discover the essence of Rotorua: its people, culture and volcanic landscape. Visit Rotorua Museum and let us share with you the great stories which have shaped the past and present of this unique region.
