About Us

Basic Instincts was born out of the desire Mike Parker has for the outdoors. Ever since his grandfather used to take him on hunting and fishing trips as a young boy it has always been a goal that one day he would be able to showcase this magnificent part of the world to our overseas visitors.

In 1992 Mike moved to Rotorua and bought a trout fishing business and learned the art of fly fishing and boat fishing on Lake Rotorua and the surrounding lakes of the region.

The Hunting side has always been a hobby and as such the business has engaged the services of more experienced guides who have indepth knowledge of the best hunting spots and techniques.
