One of the most popular themes is a landing or viewing of the active volcano “White Island”, or visit Rotorua’s most active geothermal field Hells Gate/WaiOra Spa. Mt Tarawera erupted in 1886 completely destroying the Pink and White Terraces and burying a bustling tourism village, known as “The Buried Village”. Volcanic Air Safaris will land you here where you can stroll through the excavated sites viewing remnants and artefacts on display.
With the option of either the Executive Squirrel or Robinson 44 Clipper 11, 2 x Cessna Floatplanes and unique to New Zealand, the de Haviland Otter Floatplane, Volcanic Air Safaris can provide a total capacity of 28 passengers. With prior notice greater numbers can be achieved.
