ANI's Gin Bar and Tapas Restaurant

Restaurants / Central

ANI’s Gin Bar and Tapas Restaurant is 100% Māori owned and whānau (family) operated, and named and opened in honour of the owners late mama, Annette (Ani) Sarah Vincent.

The kaupapa (purpose) of ANI’s is to give customers a nostalgic and classy New Zealand dining experience through dishes served tapas style, a taste of kai influenced by dishes Ani would, at times, spoil her children with that has story and meaning.

ANI’s dishes are cleverly mastered, using, only New Zealand products from both land and sea such as pork, beef, horopito, karengo, kawakawa smoked kahawai, Cloudy Bay clams, green lip mussels and much more. This is also found in the cocktails where only New Zealand distilled gins, including Rotorua’s own Distilled Gin Clarity.

Dishes like Caramello Mousse and Caramilk baked cheesecake is using some of New Zealand’s popular sweets as desserts.

The social aspect of tapas relates to whakawhanaungatanga (the process of establishing relationships) in Māori culture. The team at ANI’s want you to instantly feel at home as they aim to bring the ANI vibe from the moment you arrive to the time you depart – as Ani did for her manuhiri (guests).
