ROTORUA IN A DAY
Pick up at your hotel between 8.15 - 8.30.Our first stop is the WAI-O-TAPU THERMAL WONDERLAND. This is a world-famous thermal park with its Champagne Pool, Lady Knox Geyser and NZ's largest Mud Lake. From here we drive to the WAIMANGU VOLCANIC VALLEY with its natural hot spring, Frying Pan Crater and Cathedral Cliffs, showing nature's power at its explosive best.We then head back to Rotorua with time to chat and reflect on the morning tour before having Lunch at RAINBOW SPRINGS where we then experience exquisite bush walks through a bird aviary and natural springs abundant with trout. You will even get to see a live Kiwi.From here we visit the AGRODOME another world famous attraction. After a fun-filled show you can spend time with sheep,lambs and dogs. This is an opportunity to get an insight into New Zealand farm life. From here we head to TE PUIA for more breath-taking thermal activity and geysers as well as an insight into Maori culture at its best.
Finally our city's highlights tour shows you our unique and fascinating buildings built at the turn of the century and shared by millions from around the world.
A full day or awesome sights and adventures filled with unforgettable sights sounds and smells.
- The morning of this day is called THERMAL ENCOUNTERS and can be done as a half day tour
- The afternoon of this day is called EVERYBODIES FAVOURITE and can also be a half day tour
- An alternative afternoon option is the SCENIC and HISTORICAL TOUR. This tour takes in the Blue and Green Lakes, the Lake Tarawera Lookout and a stroll through the BURIED VILLAGE. This is a highly recommended tour with many stories, legends and myths.
TAUPO IN A DAY
Pick up from your hotel /motelat 8.30am.We visit WAI-O-TAPU , wonderland of colour and thermal activity. See the Champagne Pool,the famous Lady Knox Geyser erupting at 10.15am and NZ's largest mud lake. We then visit Rainbow Mountain for 1 short 30 min. bush walk to view the Crater Lake and adjacent warm water lake.Next we visit the LAVA GLASS BLOWING FACTORY before going to stop at the ARIATIATIA DAM for the Midday opening on the Waikato river. Which provides a spectacular view of rapids filling the valley. After the rapids it is on to the HUKA FALLS , another of the wonders of the Waikato river.
We arrive at the Taupo Lookout at approx 1pm. On a clear day the Mountains of Tongariro National Park (snow-clad in winter) are visible. In Taupo we have a light lunch in one of the many cafes. After lunch some free time to go for a walk round the shops.
We leave Taupo township and have a short stop at the HONEY HIVE where you will see inside a beehive, learn about honey and join a honey tasting. New Zealand fruit wines are also available for tasting. This is a good complex for all ages. The WAIARAKEI GEOTHERMAL BORE fields is our last stop before returning to Rotorua, arriving at approx 4.30pm.
- TAUPO can also been done as a half day tour getting back to Rotorua at approx 1.30pm.
BAY IN A DAY
Depart Rotorua 8.30am heading along the scenic highway to Paengaroa. First up are fun, thrills and fascination at SPRING LOADED FUN PARK. Time is allowed for thrill-seekers to take a ride on the JET BOAT . The next stop is KIWIFRUIT COUNTRY where we board the Kiwifruit Train and ride through the famous kiwifruit orchards, including a packhouse where fruit is packed for export. There is time allowed for young (and young at heart) travellers to visit the Magic Castle. Fun for all ages.
On towards MT MAUNGANUI for a buffet lunch at a local hotel. Time to relax and chat about the morning and plan for the afternoon. At this point those booked on the EXTRAQVANZA will be taken to the airport where they board their flight to WHITE ISLAND.
Everyone else will have free time to shop or go for a swim in the PACIFIC OCEAN, with a choice of hot or cold water. A stroll along our wonderful beach or a short hike around The Mount are also favourites. The return trip to Rotorua is via the Harbour Bridge taking in the city highlights of TAURANGA.We arrive back in Rotorua approx 5pm.
- The BAY IN A DAY can be scaled down to half a day for those who don't have the extra day to spare.
