Tamaki invites the MICE market to sleep over

December 8, 2011

Staying overnight in the newly built Maori-themed accommodation in the heart of Tamaki Maori Village is bound to create even more unforgettable memories of Rotorua.

Designed for visitors seeking a quality marae experience, the two new intricately carved wharemoe (sleeping houses) are nestled in the fringes of an ancient tawa forest. Each culturally themed wharemoe has been created to ensure guests experience an authentic overnight stay without compromising any of life’s little luxuries like heating, air conditioning, quality bedding, separate male and female bathroom and shower facilities.

Arriving in the afternoon, overnight guests will receive a traditional Tamaki Maori Village welcome, and become fully immersed in marae protocols. They will join the award-winning evening hangi and concert experience before retreating to their sleeping houses. A shared breakfast is offered in the morning prior to departure, or alternatively guests can extend their stay by participating in a half day interactive programme learning things like weaving, carving and weaponry arts.
