Hugh Hefner's new holiday home
- a "boost" for Rotorua tourism
In what some locals have described as a rush of blood to the head, Hugh Hefner has struck a deal with the Rotorua Museum Centennial Trust to convert the final stage of the Rotorua Museum development into his Playboy Holiday Mansion.
Hugh flew to Rotorua following the announcement that scientists from Italy’s University of Naples had discovered a link between hydrogen sulphide – the gas that gives Rotorua its rotten egg smell – and male sexual arousal.
Destination Rotorua Tourism Marketing general manager Don Gunn expects the Playboy Holiday Mansion development will raise more than a few eyebrows in the local community, and says the long-term benefits for local tourism are huge.
