With plenty of options suitable for families with children of all ages, (all year round), it is easy to find activities to keep the whole family entertained in Rotorua. And with so many free things to do in Rotorua it helps to stretch the holiday budget. Take a walk among the beautiful trees in the Redwood Memorial Grove or Whakarewarewa Forest wilderness area. Head to Kuria Park in the inner city; the kids will love holding their nose among the thermal mud pools. They can also paddle in warm thermal water for free. If they got energy to spare, Rotorua has three excellent playgrounds on Kuirau Park, at the Lakefront and at Hannah's Bay Reserve.

It’s also easy to please the whole family when eating out as there are a host of family favourites from the usual fast food chains through to special Rotorua experiences like twilight lake-edge barbecues with Duck Tours, night luging and buffet combination at Skyline Skyrides, or hangi feast and Maori cultural entertainment.
